Happy Birthday, Arthur! We missed you Thursday night at the "Winter Reunion!"
I am very sad to hear the recent news concerning the passing of John. He and I lived very near each other. We often walked together to and from our bus stop at Candrell's (?) Store at Natural Bridge and East Edgar.
John was very, very intelligent and a great person. He was easy going and also kind of a "non-conformist" with his long hair and approach to life back in those days. I remember once when we had to "deal" with some guys who did not like John's life style and appearance. After high school, we lost contact but at some point we hooked up again. I always enjoyed hearing from him and meeting up when we had the chance. We have lost a good one with John gone and I will think of him warmly.
Happy Birthday and thank you for your service.

Happy Birthday! Hope to see you soon for a birthday drink. It's a shame you are about 2 weeks older than I am.

It's very sad to hear this about Elaine. I have great memories of her from Normandy. She was always kind and friendly and a joy to be around. My deepest sympathy to her family and friends. Th next time the Normandy family gathers we should remember Elaine and the great person she was to know and have in our memories.
I am really sorry that we have lost Rickey. We had a lot of classes together at Normandy and I can attest to how smart he was. He always loved sports and I remember how enthusiatic he was to work the sports beat for the Courier and to talk sports everyday in class. We ran across each other from time to time after high school. One time was nearly memorable since he was bicycling like crazy through Clayton and I made the mistake of stepping out in front of him. Fortunately he missed me but we started laughing because he had on his fancy biking gear and I was kidding him about it. What was amazing is that anytime I saw him he still looked pretty much the same as HS. Not sure many of us can say that. I doubt that many of you know that Rickey took up officiating high school football and I would see him occasionally working a game or attending an association meeting. He always had a lot of questions and as always was an enthusiastic learner and talker. I feel fortunate to have known Rickey and to have him as a friend for those few years we had together at Normandy. He was truly an alumnus who did us proud! Peace be with you, Rickey.
