Jean Weinstock

JEAN WEINSTOCK, former Normandy School District Board of Education President and a member from 1975 through 1990; president of the St. Louis County Library Board of Directors; and for 23 years Director of Music at Normandy United Methodist Church, died October 10, 2009, at the age of 70 following a fall resulting in severe head trauma. She was the wife of longtime English teacher David Weinstock and the mother of Kathy Weinstock (Rad), Class of 1981; Bess Weinstock (Wilfong), Class of1984; and Tim Weinstock, Class of 1986. She had taught language arts nearly 20 years at St. Charles High, retiring in 2005 and being lauded in a Missouri House of Representatives Resolution. A native of Appalachia, Virginia, she had come to St. Louis in 1967. An ordained elder of the Presbyterian Church she was a choir member and volunteer at Second Presbyterian Church in the Central West End. Among her beloved St. Louis philanthropies was Angel Arms, which her daughter founded to provide homes and resources for foster families.

Kathy,

So sorry to learn of your loss our your mother. I never had her as a teacher, but I remember she was very friendly and kind.  I was a student in your dad's class, he was an excellent teacher.
