A memorial service July 7 at Memorial Park honored VIRGINIA SAXTON longtime teacher at Bel Ridge. Her son John graduated with the Class of1969. Mrs. Saxton was 93. Born in Newburg, Missouri, as Virginia Montgomery, she attended Drury College and then graduated from the University of Missouri at Columbia. She taught at several rural schools, worked with the FBI during World War II, then married Al Saxton in 1947 and moved to St. Louis. She taught 4th grade in the Normandy District. She moved to Springfield in 1980. A memorial service took place in Springfield in May following her passing May 12, 2009.
