Comments:

I met my wife at the U. Of Arizona, got married in 1971 & moved to LA. Later moved to South Africa & then Wales so I could play rugby (74-75). Went to grad school upon return, was a professor at U. of Miami, then SDSU (we missed the west), & finally at Sacramento State (87-2019). Following in my Mom's footsteps (home ec teacher at Normandy High), Jackie & I both loved being teachers. We have 2 sons, Jesse (married & father of our grandson Woody) & Andrew. I've just retired from Sac State but am an educator/trainer for USA Rugby.
I play a great deal of golf these days (just right for corona times) & love CrossFit. One of my sons (Jesse) owned a CrossFit "box" & I still work out & serve as an instructor there. Jackie & I both have the same favorite activity; playing with our 4 year old grandson, Woody.

School Story:

I loved being Mrs. Gray's son. She was a favorite teacher of many of the girls in my class & I thought that was pretty great, although, sadly, I was too shy to talk to most of them. It was obvious she loved her "girls" and was such a super role model for me in my teaching career. By the way, Jackie, my wife, was everyone's favorite kindergarten teacher, which is probably why she & my Mom were best of friends.

Welcome to the site, Steve. A belated (almost 3 months LOL) Happy Birthday but a timely Happy Holidays to you and your family. What an interesting life you have started with so much more ahead. Thank you for sharing your love of teaching with all the students that have had the pleasure of being in your classes. You can tell when a person treatas teaching as a job or when they truly love teaching which makes the learning experience so much better. I watch the CrossFit contests and I am amazed at the stamina of the athletes. Congratulations for taking good care of yourself. Your story reminds me I need to get more active ! ! !
